Navigation: From the Time Approver Work Center, click the Exceptions menu item or you can go to NavBar/Navigator > Manager Self Service > Time Management and then Approve Time and Exceptions > Exceptions.
Exceptions should be checked when you do not see all or any of your employees’ time. We also recommend you check for exceptions every pay period. Exceptions are messages generated when time is reported and either an aspect of the time is incorrect, or the time does not comply with a defined rule. Exceptions may prevent time from showing as Payable Time so checking for Exceptions should be a regular task of time approvers.
The Exceptions page uses the same search criteria as Payable Time. You may also filter by expanding the Filtering Options section and entering options as desired.
If a High severity exception is not resolved or allowed, time will not become Payable Time. Exceptions with a severity level of Low or Medium will become Payable Time but they also remain in the Exceptions list until the exception is resolved or allowed.
Exception statuses are Unresolved, Resolved and Allowed. When an exception is created, the status is Unresolved. In some cases you should ask the Time Reporter to correct the time that generated the exception. When Time Administration runs again, if the exception condition no longer exists, then the status changes to Resolved. If the exception is recreated, the status is again Unresolved.
The Allow Exceptions functionality enables you to allow an informational exception. For example, a High severity exception is created when more than 24 hours in a day is reported. If time was accurately reported, you must allow this exception so payable time will be available for approval.
- To allow an exception, place a checkmark in the checkbox in the Allow column and click Save.
- To allow all exceptions resulting from a search, click Select All and then Save.
Click the Details tab to display additional information.
To recap, Exceptions are messages generated when time is reported and either an aspect of the time is incorrect or the time does not comply with a defined rule. Each exception has an associated severity level and those with High severity level must be resolved or allowed in order for the reported time to become Payable Time. Use the Manage Exception component to specify which exceptions to allow for a specified time reporter, or a group of time reporters.
