Footnotes

1See Additional Compensation Guidelines for definitions

2FLSA:  Exempt means work performed meets the FLSA duties and salary test for exempt status; Overtime Rate:  If primary job is non-exempt, any additional work must be paid hourly and the hours worked in the secondary job/additional work must be included when determining whether the employee has exceeded 40 hours in the week for overtime calculation; any additional income will be included when calculating the average hourly rate then used for FLSA OT rate

Student Employee Determinations

Student workers are generally considered non-exempt2 per FLSA and must be paid by the hour. Exceptions include Graduate Assistants who are paid a monthly stipend. Determinations and paperwork are obtained from campus Student Employment offices. Also see 0260.20 Student Employees and FLSA

3New employees will also need to submit all applicable new hire paperwork including Form I-9 if required.

4Set up of Job record will include updating standard hours accordingly for compliance with ACA.  For exempt employees paid monthly, the comp rate will be zero during months without pay for Intermittent/As Needed.  Jobs will be terminated if/when not paid for 12 consecutive months.
